When Duncan Keith was inducted into the Blackhawks Hall of Fame, I knew I wanted to create a painting of him. I planned to bring it to his autograph signing, but the event was canceled.

Instead of giving up, I brought the painting with me to the Blackhawks game that same night—Duncan Keith bobblehead night—knowing he would be in the building. I walked around the United Center with the painting, trying to find a way to show him, not knowing if I’d even get the chance.

After tracking down where he was, I held up my painting in the crowd, hoping he would see it, and he did. Duncan Keith came down himself, said “That’s amazing, I’m signing that,” and signed my painting.

That moment turned into something bigger than I expected. I shared it on Instagram, where it reached over 50,000 views, and Duncan Keith himself liked the video.‍ ‍
