I painted this piece in 2021, one year after Kobe Bryant passed away. Kobe was someone I always respected, not only for the athlete he was, but for the incredible discipline, work ethic, and dedication he brought to his training and his craft. That mindset has always been inspiring to me.
After his passing, I knew I wanted to create a painting that honored him and the legacy he left behind. I chose to capture Kobe in an emotional moment in his iconic Lakers No. 24 jersey, a representation of the passion and intensity he brought every time he stepped on the court.
