“Chicago United” captures a moment that brought together the next generation of Chicago sports and culture. Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, Chicago Bulls players Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson, and Cole Bennett—the Chicago-born founder of Lyrical Lemonade who helped bring local artists into the national spotlight—came together at Wrigley Field to support their friend, Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong.
More than a gathering of recognizable faces, this moment represents what makes Chicago special: people from different teams and industries showing up for one another and for their city. I continued that story throughout the crowd by incorporating the colors of the Cubs, White Sox, Bears, and Bulls, uniting Chicago’s sports culture within one painting.
The artwork also caught the attention of both Bulls players featured in it. Caleb Wilson responded when I first shared that I would be painting the moment, and after seeing the finished piece, Matas Buzelis called it “unbelievable.”
This is the one-of-one, hand-painted original artwork. While prints may be available, the original painting will never be recreated—there will only ever be one original Chicago United.
